"Confessions of a Cuban Boy" - Book talk with award winning author Carlos Eire

Join award winning author Carlos Eire, for a book talk at La Grua Center on Friday evening at 6 pm.
Eire was one of 14,000 children airlifted from Cuba without their parents between 1960 and 1962 by Operation Pedro Pan. He and his brother arrived in the United States in April 1962, and, after living in a string of camps and foster homes, were finally reunited with their mother in Chicago three and a half years later. Their father remained trapped in Cuba for the remainder of his life. His talk will focus on his two memoirs about his childhood and their relation to history; "Waiting for Snow in Havana," winner of the National Book Award in 2003, deals with his life in Cuba and "Learning to Die in Miami" (2009) deals with his experiences as an exiled orphan.

This event is open to the public and free of charge.
Donations gratefully accepted.
Seating is limited, please arrive early.

Parking for La Grua Center is in the main lot at the entrance to the Stonington Commons Community
