Controversial Mystic Boathouse Takes Step Forward
A property has been rezoned to make way for a new boathouse.

STONINGTON, CT - The Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a rezoning application to make way for a controversial boathouse on a Route 27 site, The Day reported. The 1.5-acre lot has been rezoned from residential development to Maritime Heritage District, which allows for buildings up to 45 feet tall with no front or rear yard setbacks.
A private group of rowing supporters has raised $2.5 million for the boathouse, which will be the future home of the Stonington High School crew team and the Stonington Community Rowing Center. Read the full story in The Day.
