Creative Arts Center To Expand Into Velvet Mill In Stonington

A Putnam performing and creative arts center will open a second location in the Connecticut Velvet Mill in Stonington.

STONINGTON, CT — Last week, the owner of The Complex Performing and Creative Arts Centre in Putnam signed a lease for a 1,000 square-foot space inside the Connecticut Velvet Mill, allowing the center to expand into Stonington this summer, the New London Day reported.

According to the Day, owner Nichola Johnson said she had been looking for second location for the past three years and found the mill, which houses a mix of artists, a brewery and a number of small businesses, to be a perfect fit. The center, an arts conservatory for children, teens and adults, opened 13 years ago in Putnam.
