Daily Five: Fundraiser for Beech Brook Equine Rescue
Five things to know for Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013.

1. Call the Stonington Free Library at 860-535-0658 and register for today's Fancy Nancy Tea & Tutus Party. Then join the library for tea and cookies at 3:30 p.m. The activity is for children ages 3 to 8 and registration is required.
2. Grab a drink or dinner at Margarita's Bar and Restaurant and help out Beech Brook Equine Rescue. Tonight from 5 to 10 the Mystic restaurant is hosting a fundraising to support Beech Brook's rescue and youth programs.
3. The Stonington Community Center is hosting a free AARP tax preparation program today from noon to 4 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend and if you can't make it today there will be additional programs on March 7, March 21, April 4 and April 11. Call the COMO at 860-535-2476 to make an appointment.

4. If giving blood makes you a little squeamish maybe ice cream will help. Mel’s Downtown Creamery is hosting a blood drive on Feb. 22, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone who gives blood will receive a free pint of ice cream.
The Red Cross website offers a search option for interested donors to find upcoming blood drives in their area.

5. Join the Mystic Arts Center tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 for cocktails and creativity during Artini Hour. Tonight's martini is Kiss-me-tini and the designs will by Georgia O'Keeffe inspired triptychs. The cost is $10.
