Dog Found Deceased in North Stonington [UPDATE]

A post is circulating around Facebook, from a woman seeking to identify the dog.

Animal Control pages and other Facebook users have shared a photo of a deceased German Shepherd found in North Stonington and posted on Facebook by Ashley Hoffman.

She wrote in the photo’s caption:

“Attn North Stonington people! Can you ID this dog? Someone dumped it, dead, on Wyassup Rd. Apparently there are tire tracks where they backed up and ditched it in a snow bank. Sorry for the graphic pic, but this is just unacceptable and whoever did it needs to be caught.”

Hoffman provided an update and said she believed the police department took the dog, who is being checked for a microchip.

“Because I made this post, people are assuming I found the dog,” she said. “I did not. I had to make a new post about it because of FB privacy settings. The original post couldn’t be seen when shared.”
