Doyle said she trained Hero, pigeons and a skunk for the movie. The skunk didn't make the final cut. The movie was filmed in the Boston area. Hero makes an appearance in the opening montage of the movie when a dog grabs Ted, the teddy bear and runs off with him.

"I was asked to train him to steal Ted in the scene where Ted falls out of the soap box derby car," Doyle said.

Doyle said Hero was one of three dogs considered for the role.

"When I showed them Hero he was their first choice," Doyle said.

Next time you’re at the Dog Watch be sure to congratulate Hero on his Hollywood break.
