Desmond said a 7:40 a.m. alarm sent police to the Hendel Drive and Route 27 hotel where a water leak from a burst pipe was reported. A interior ceiling collapsed affecting the Inn’s lobby, not the exterior roof, he said, adding guests were evacuated in the event another portion of ceiling in the building might succumb. Water damage was widespread throughout. Desmond said police and fire responded and that the town building official is inspecting.
