Drunk Driving Arrests Double in Stonington

Your chances of getting caught driving drunk in Stonington are pretty good.

According to theday.com, the number of DUI arrests made from Jan. 1 to July 31 have doubled over the same period last year.

For the first six months of 2015, Stonington police made 72 arrests for driving under the influence. For the same period in 2014, there were 39 arrests, theday.com reported.

Capt. Todd Olson was quoted saying the effort is attributed to the officers’ dedication to keeping the roads safe.

The article stated that the majority of arrests are of drivers middle-aged or older, while arrests of those in their teens and 20s are rare.
