Event Officials Cancel 2017 Mystic Blues Festival
Event officials have decided not to move forward with the 2017 Mystic Blues Festival this year.

MYSTIC, CT - After much discussion, officials have decided not to move forward with the 2017 Mystic Blues Festival this year.
The news was announced Tuesday on the event's Facebook page.
"Because of the unusually hot weekend this last August 12 through 14, our event and many others in Southeastern Connecticut suffered from low attendance," the post said. "As a result, we did not reach our financial goals as an organization, and as such, need to spend the next year fund raising to meet our past, present, and future obligations."

The post also said event officials hope the festival will relaunch in the future. Those who were looking forward to the blues-music related event will have the opportunity to support the festival at various fundraisers throughout the year.
The festival's first major fundraising event, the Sunday Blues Jam, takes place Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly, Rhode Island. The event will be an open blues jam with no cover, during which donations are encouraged and appreciated.

Future fund raising events will be shared on the Mystic Blues Festival Facebook page.
"We continue to be inspired by the goals we set four and a half years ago," the post said. "To promote and support blues music and musicians and the important work of our friends at the Center for Hospice Care. It has been an honor and a privilege to work on producing this event with the help of so many great people."
