Five Stonington Police Officers Receive Commendations From Board Of Selectmen

Officers Honored For Saving The Lives Of Two Citizens

Five Stonington Police officers received commendations from the Board of Selectmen for their actions in two separate incidents that saved two lives.

“We want to honor them here tonight with an official commendation,” said First Selectmen Edward Haberek Jr., at the Wednesday meeting of the board of selectmen.

Officers, Sgt. Bryan Schneider, Youth Officer Tim Marley and Officer Mario Ritacco received commendations for their actions in saving the life of a man who was drowning in March 2010.

The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association recently awarded the .

Officers Greg Howard and Earl Palmer received commendations for their rapid response, which led to earlier this month.

“I’m here quite literally because of these two gentlemen,” said Evers. “We’re really lucky as a community to have such individuals.”

The two officers also received commendations from the American Heart Association at Wednesday’s meeting.

“The two of you are to be congratulated said the David Hiltz of the American Heart Association. “It takes an entire community to provide for these miraculous outcomes.”
