The Flour Shop Celebrating Opening Of New Location In Pawcatuck

The popular bagel shop will celebrate the opening of its new location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

PAWCATUCK, CT — The Flour Shop will celebrate the opening of its new location in Pawcatuck with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 21, the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, and the Ocean Community Chamber announced this week.

The popular eatery is located at 20 Mechanic Street in Pawcatuck.

“Founded by Jon and Hannah Young, The Flour Shop has been a staple in the community, drawing crowds from near and far,” according to a news release. “Formerly nestled in the historic Velvet Mill in the Stonington Borough, The Flour Shop has garnered a loyal following of customers craving a Magic Garden Bagel, undeniably delicious Pizza Bagel, or Iced Cinnamon Bun Shaken Espresso.”

“We have been so fortunate that the Flour Shop has found the following it has,” Hannah Young said. “From starting out as a farm stand style bakery rack in our driveway in 2021 to moving into the Velvet Mill in 2022 and now opening in Pawcatuck, we’re excited to continue this journey and welcome you into our new space.”

The ribbon-cutting event is free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged, according to the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce.

“Jon and Hannah’s journey began in 2011 working in a New London pizza shop,” according to the news release. “They’d spent their lives in restaurants and shared the desire to open a business of their own one day. Ten years, two kids, and countless conversations of just what this dream would look like later, their vision finally came into focus. The concept of a farmstand-style bakery was one the Youngs believed could be unique (and pandemic-friendly) enough to work. The menu would focus on a rotation selection of scratch made scones, muffins, sourdough bagels, and sophisticated coffees.

“Their story is one of love, dedication, and a genuine desire to create a warm and inviting space for the community while having a creative flare on social media.”
