Former Mystic Tavern Site Purchased By Whaler's Inn

The former site of a Mystic tavern has been purchased by the Whaler's Inn.

MYSTIC, CT — The former site of a Mystic tavern has been purchased by the Whaler's Inn, the New London Day reported. The adjacent building is located at 9 Cottrell Street, and inn officials are trying to come to a decision on what they will do with it.

The former site of John's Mystic River Tavern currently has a sign on its widow that indicates it is "closed for renovations," according to the New London Day. John's announced in December that it would close after 50 years in business as the building had been sold.

Inn officials have not made any official plans regarding what the site will be used for, as they are currently waiting on information from engineers and architects on what can be done there, the New London Day reported. They also said the inn is at least six months out from making any announcements on its use.
