Former Treasurer Charged With Stealing More Than $9,000 From Stonington Hall Of Fame: Police

Police said a former treasurer has been charged with stealing nearly $9,000 from the Stonington High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

STONINGTON, CT - Police said a former treasurer has been charged with stealing nearly $9,000 from the Stonington High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The organization has put on an annual induction banquet for the past 13 years.

Kenneth Wilcox, 78, of Pawcatuck turned himself in to police Saturday after a warrant had been obtained for his arrest, according to the New London Day. Wilcox was charged after he was forced to step down from his position and handed the group's checkbox over to the new treasurer, the New London Day reported. No financial irregularities had been apparent to the group up until the checkbox was given to them, members said.
