Dance Palace, School of mystic Ballet, in both past and present, has inherited beautiful and talented young people, and Maggie Skinner is no exception. Maggie is a level 7 and a member of Mystic Ballet’s junior company. Outside of the school, Maggie is in the beginnings of a successful modeling career! Just finishing her prominent debut at New York’s Fashion week, she has caught the eye of Paul Fisher and his company The Network. (Fisher has represented models such as Naomi Campbell and Stephanie Seymour.)
A late bloomer in the dancer world, Maggie started at the school in the fall of 2011. However this in no way caused her to fall behind. With hard work, the now sweet 16 year old, has worked her way up to those who have been dancing since their early primary years. I have the privilege of knowing how difficult that is, having entered the dance world, myself, later then most. At the very least it brings to the light, her industrious nature and commitment to excellence. From word of mouth and the article written recently in The Day, (posted on the School of Mystic Ballet Facebook page) I have come to see what everyone else see’s in Maggie. I just love seeing, outside my own life, how dance has heavily impacted a young persons life outside the studio.
To quote The Day writer, Kristina Dorsey,

“Skinner credits her ballet training with helping her in modeling. It has made her conscious of her body and how to hold herself in a posture, for instance, and it has helped her feel comfortable on stage – or, in this case, on a runway.”
“She’s got this positive energy. She’s got this poise,” Masucci says, adding she was happy to hear Skinner was a dancer because she knows dancers are wonderful runway walkers. “

Dance is a beautiful art form that demands all of ones heart and soul… But even for those not seeking a professional dance career, it has its priceless benefits. How amazing for Maggie, to reap the benefits of the schools investment and her hard work, in her budding modeling career! Best of wishes Maggie!
