Giant 550 pound pumpkin on display Saturday at the Pine Point School in Stonington, CT during our Open House and Barber Sports Tournament from 10-2pm. The pumpkin was donated by the Pesarik family. You might be wondering what will happen to a 550 puns pumpkin after Halloween? All will go to a good cause: it will be brought to to Grasso Tech where the environmental program will be harvesting the seeds and then carving up the pumpkin for compost. They have a compost powered water heater that provides heat to their greenhouse, and the compost used as fertilizer in the spring. Nothing will be going to waste.
