The state-of-the-art building is inspired by the heritage of the Mystic region, property owner and developer David Lattizori said.
The proposed health center is located next to Mystic Aquarium at Lattizori's Perkins Farm Campus, a large mixed-use development project off Jerry Browne Road and will include a 55-plus adult community and housing for young professionals. Lattizori described the entire project as a "great economic development opportunity for the town, adding funds to the tax rolls and employees who will frequent local businesses."
âThe Health Center is designed to be the most state-of-the-art medical facility in southeastern Connecticut,â Lattizori said. âIt evokes a timeless nautical fell while also taking advantage of 21st century building materials, which will communicate to patients and the community that this is a world-class medical facility⊠we believe it will be the premier medical destination along the Connecticut shoreline for first class medical care.â
In a press release, Hartford Healthcae wrote that the center, "In keeping with the communityâs roots and input from our soon-to-be neighbors, the facility is designed to subtly suggest a large ship, with a silo-like structure on the side that resembles a shipâs smoke stack, or funnel."
