The company moved its offices and research and development center to Stonington after outgrowing its Groton location. According to President of Zachry Nuclear Engineering Mark Mills the Connecticut location was under a lot of pressure to move its 150 employees to Charlottesville, Virginia but was happy to stay in the area with the help of Stonington First Selectman Edward Haberek Jr.
“With Ed’s [Haberek] help we kept these jobs in Connecticut.” Mills said. “We’re going to stay in Connecticut. We’re going to grow in Connecticut.”
