Intoxicated Stonington Driver Tried to Buy Cigarettes, Coffee in Closed Store: PD

The man was found inside the closed store around 3 a.m. trying to pay for the items, but no employees were present.

Stonington, CT- Police arrested a man for DUI Sunday after he was found inside a closed convenience store trying to pay for cigarettes and coffee, according to police.

Police responded to a burglar alarm at the Henny Penny store at 2:48 a.m. and found Aaron Ellison, 51, trying to pay for items, but no employees were in the store, according to the New London Day. The door had apparently been left unlocked.

He admitted to driving to the store and police confirmed with video surveillance, police said.
