Kayaker's Body Found In North Stonington Lake: UPDATE

NORTH STONINGTON, CT — The body of a kayaker was found at Wyassup Lake on Sunday morning, FOX 61 reported. Akida Edwards, 45, of New York, NY went out Saturday at around 10:30 p.m. and did not return.

Emergency crews found the empty kayak Sunday morning. Divers recovered Edwards' body and declared him deceased at 11:40 a.m., according to FOX 61. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Environmental Conservation Police, state police, the regional dive team and the Taftville, Old Mystic, Pawcatuck and North Stonington fire departments all participated in the search, according to The New London Day.
