Join Ming Lee Prospero in the exploration of Kundalini Yoga. Every Kundalini yoga class begins by centering and tuning into to the breath. Class opens with a mantra that helps to tune into the divine wisdom inside ourselves. Practice begins with a few minutes of conscious breathing, and warm-ups for the body with movement and exercises, and then begin a kriya. After the kriya there is a period of relaxation and meditation. Classes close with a sweet song and time to reflect on the experience. Kundalini classes are fun and offer a great variety of yogic techniques, ones that can be used at any time and anywhere! All levels.
About Kundalini Yoga:
Kundalini yoga is an ancient practice that works with the body, mind and spirit. For this reason it is also called the yoga of awareness. In this practice we use many tools to help us along life's path. The key elements to this practice are yogic breathing techniques, sets of postures and movements, meditation and mantra. Conscious breathing brings awareness to the body and harnesses the mind to deepen the experience of exercises and meditations. Kundalini kriyas are sets of exercises, or postures, each designed by yoga masters to work on different body systems. There are many kriyas to choose from; they enhance the nervous and glandular systems, build core strength, and work with key energy centers in the body. These kriyas move energy to improve overall health. There are many Kundalini yoga meditations, some using mental mantras and others using spoken mantras, some with no movement, and others using specific movements and mudras. These components help direct thoughts and emotions and allow us to experience inner calm, strength and radiance. Music is used in portions of the class and there is always a rest period to integrate the work and rejuvenate. This practice benefits anyone at any age and is compatible with all levels of fitness.
