STONINGTON, CT - Court officials said a man charged with sexually touching a Stonington child has received a sentence of one and a half years in prison, followed by five years probation, the New London Day reported. He must also register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Police said John A. Adrian, 66, was charged after one of his friends contacted the department with concerns he had after speaking to the suspect, the New London Day reported. Adrian allegedly made bizarre remarks when officers interviewed him and implied the 4-year old child had initiated the contact, police said.

Police said the suspect was convicted of committing a similar crime against a child in Illinois in 1986, according to the New London Day. His attorney said there were significant disputes about parts of the Stonington case, however his admissions to police made it risky to go to trial.
