Man Charged With Stealing Rent Money At Stonington Inn: Police
Police said a Stonington man has been charged with stealing several rent payments left by tenants at the Elm Tree Inn.

STONINGTON, CT - Police said a Stonington man has been charged with rent theft, the Westerly Sun reported. The suspect is accused of stealing several rent payments left by tenants at the Elm Tree Inn.
Police said David Eric Hazard, 48, forced his way into an office and broke into a safe, according to the Westerly Sun. The suspect then allegedly took several rent payments that were left by himself and several other tenants earlier that day. Officers were able to identify Hazard by using a closed-circuit surveillance camera that monitors the office, the Westerly Sun reported. Police said the suspect told officers when confronted he was attempting to retrieve his own rent money he had deposited.
