Man Steals Car, Crashes Into Taylor Swift Estate: Police

A Hartford man is accused of stealing a car and crashing it into Taylor Swift's Watch Hill, R.I. property.

WESTERLY, RI - A Hartford man is accused of stealing a car and crashing it into the front gate of pop star Taylor Swift's Watch Hill estate, The Westerly Sun reported. The driver and two passengers were taken to local hospitals following the wreck.

The Sun reported that Shykeim Edwin Lewis, 19, of Hartford, was charged with reckless driving by engaging police in high-speed pursuit, obstructing an officer, felony receiving stolen goods, and driving with a suspended or denied license.

According to police reports, the chase began on Route 3 in Hopkinton at around 1 a.m. Tuesday. Lewis allegedly led Westerly and Hopkinton police on a high-speed chase reaching speeds of up to 65 mph before crashing into the wall and gate of Swift's estate at 16 Bluff Ave., according to The Sun. Lewis and a passenger got out of the car and attempted to flee.

The incident is under investigation. The AP reported that Lewis was held on $10,000 bond.

The pop star wasn't home at the time of the incident, according to TMZ.

Swift's estate was previously targeted by a criminal last April. An Ansonia man robbed a bank, then drove to her estate and threw some money over the fence, The Connecticut Post reported.

The man told police he had a crush on Swift and robbed the bank in an attempt to impress her.
