Man Used Septic Truck To Ram CT State Police Cruiser: Authorities

A Norwich man is facing numerous charges after authorities said he used the truck to strike a police cruiser in North Stonington.

STONINGTON, CT — An 18-year-old Norwich man is facing numerous charges after authorities said he used a septic truck to ram a Connecticut State Police cruiser before leading police on a chase.

Donovan S. Beard was charged with criminal mischief, larceny, reckless endangerment and assault following the Friday night incident in North Stonington.

According to state police, troopers were called to a home near 136 Norwich Westerly Road around 5 p.m. after receiving a disturbance report. When troopers arrived, they found Beard and his mother engaged in an argument.

According to police, Beard confronted the officers while he was inside a septic truck he gained access to near the home. Police said he then used the truck to ram a state police cruiser.

According to police, Beard then led officers on a foot chase before he was apprehended.

Beard was arrested and is being held on $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
