Man Who Stole Firearm in Mystic, Fled Police Found in Rhode Island: Report

A man was arrested about 15 months after stealing a firearm in Mystic and fleeing police.

STONINGTON, CT - Police said a man who fled from police after stealing a firearm was found in Rhode Island, the Westerly Sun reported. Police said he has been charged as a fugitive.

Jerome McCarthy, 28, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, was arrested about 15 months after stealing a firearm in Mystic, according to the Westerly Sun. Officers took custody of the suspect Friday after he was charged as a fugitive from justice during a hearing in Rhode Island, the Westerly Sun reported. Police said McCarthy waived his right to extradition and agreed to allow detectives to take him back to Connecticut.
