Merle E. Judkins, 92, of Mystic, Passed Away on March 22

Merle E. Judkins, 92, of Mystic, passed away on Sunday March 22, 2015 at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. She was born on Aug. 6, 1922 in Richmond, CA, the daughter of the late Henry and Nellie (Beck) Ehlers. Merle was married to the late Francis E. Judkins in Richmond on May 25, 1945. He passed away on Dec. 10, 1984.

Mrs. Judkins was a member of the Tree of Life Christian Church in New London. Her survivors include four children Francine Sullivan of Mystic, Julie Church and her husband Everett of Groton, John L. Judkins and his wife Margaret of San Pablo, CA, Aron Judkins and his wife Valerie of Antioch, CA, 10 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.

She had also been predeceased by her son- in- law Timothy J. Sullivan and a brother William H. Ehlers.
Her favorite pastime was going out to eat with family and friends. Many Sunday afternoons were spent playing Liverpool Rummy with her children and grandchildren. She is fondly remembered for her great sense of humor and she enjoyed being the recipient of a good joke as much as teasing others. She was well known for her exceptional sewing skills, alterations, and tailoring. Besides clothing she made dolls and created lavish wardrobes for them.

Memorial service will be held on April 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Tree of Life Christian Church, 122 Colman St, New London, CT.

Her burial will be private and there are to be no visiting hours.  Donations may be directed to the Tree of Life Church.
