Mermaids Make A Splash At Mystic Aquarium This Month

MYSTIC, CT – Mermaids are coming to Mystic Aquarium! For two weeks in March, the Wands & Wishes mermaids will dive into the waters of the aquarium’s 35,000-gallon Caribbean reef habitat. The mermaids will be on site March 2-5 and 9-12, 2023. This marks the first time mermaids will appear at the aquarium.

With a general admission ticket, Mystic Aquarium guests can see and interact with the diving mermaids in the central reef habitat. The schedule for daily dive times is available on the Mystic Aquarium’s Mermaids at Mystic webpage. A VIP meet & greet option gives families the opportunity to talk with a mermaid on dry land and engage in conversations about protecting our oceans. The meet & greet experience can be purchased on site on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are encouraged to show up in aquatic-themed costumes, and a variety of special activities will be set up about the aquarium.

The mermaids are all professional aquarium performers, skilled and certified in free-diving and SCUBA. Prior to their guest appearances, they participate in safety dives to learn about the habitat and ensure both the mermaids and the animals in the habitats are safe. The mermaids provide both entertainment to guests as well as educate them about ocean conservation.

We also always want to surprise our guests with unique and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. With the mermaids coming here, we can do both.”

Mystic Aquarium recommends guests purchase their tickets in advance. In addition, if possible, the aquarium suggests guests visit on Thursday and Friday to avoid some of the weekend crowds.
