Mystic Arts Center
(MAC) is pleased to announce a gallery talk, “More than Meets the Eye: Mystic
as Muse,” by curator Noelle King on Monday, August 19, at 6:30 p.m. King will
be discussing the artists that have contributed the mission of MAC of the
course of its 100 year history and the role that curators, staff, collectors,
and art enthusiasts have played in framing exhibitions. Additionally, King will include an
informal walk around the exhibition “Mystic as Muse: 100 Years of Inspiration”.
“Mystic as Muse: 100 Years of Inspiration” is Mystic Arts Center’s
centennial exhibition, featuring paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and
other media from artists from the late 19th c. to the present day.
Works from the Bruce Museum, Lyman Allyn Art Museum, Mattatuck Museum, the New
Britain Museum of American Art, and many from important private collections
reveal the interests of artists who were drawn to Mystic for artistic
inspiration.
