Updated: Multi-Vehicle Accident On Route 1

A multi-vehicle accident on Route 1 between Stonington and Mystic closed the southbound lane this afternoon.

Two vehicles were involved in an accident that occurred around 1:45 p.m., on Route 1 near Cove and Wilcox Roads. , and Mystic River Ambulance responded to the accident. The southbound lane was closed while emergency personnel responded to the accident, which included a fluid spill. The road has since been cleared and reopened.

Stonington Police reported no injuries and the cause of the accident is not yet known.
