Sen. Chris Murphy A Top Contender For 2020 Democrat Presidential Nomination: Report
A Washington Post analysis puts Murphy near the top of the list. Murphy has said he doesn't want higher office at this time.

Sen. Chris Murphy’s name is near the top of a list of potential Democratic challengers for the 2020 presidential race, according to a recent analysis by the Washington Post.
Murphy appeared third on the Fix’s list behind former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Here’s part of what the Post had to say on Murphy:

He's also got clear progressive bona fides — on gun control and fighting Trump — without seeming like too much of a Northeastern liberal. He says he's not interested in running, but nearly everyone thinks he'd be an instant contender.
Murphy appeared before more well-known Democrats, such as outspoken Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and California Sen. Kamala Harris.
Murphy had told Patch during a phone interview in June of this year that he did not have any aspirations for higher office at the time.

He has become a strong critic of President Donald Trump and has criticized him on multiple platforms, especially Twitter. When Trump threatened to stop trade with all countries doing business with North Korea, Murphy pointed out that the list includes some of the country's largest partners, such as China, Mexico, India, Germany and Saudi Arabia.
“I'm fine with threats. Just make them plausible,” he said.
Murphy was elected to the Senate in 2012 and served in the House of Representatives from 2007 until he joined the Senate. He beat WWE magnate Linda McMahon to win the Senate seat; earlier this year he strongly supported her nomination to head the Small Business Administration.
Before that he was a member of the Connecticut Senate and House of Representatives. He was first elected to office as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Southington. Murphy, 44, is one of the youngest members of the Senate.
