Mystic Chamber of Commerce Votes Against Merger

MYSTIC, CT- The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce decided against the option of merging or partnering with a local business organization this week, The Day reported.

The chamber had been considering a merger with either Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce, which serves Pawcatuck and Westerly, or partnership with the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, according to The Day. They will instead go with a third option of continuing with new policies, structure and control.

The chamber had been struggling with financial issues and the abrupt departure of its former president, according to The Day. The board recently named Bill Smith of Groton as the new president.
