Mystic Halloween Parade Coming Up

MYSTIC, CT — The Mystic Fire Department in partnership with the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce will have the Halloween parade in downtown Mystic on October 30th at 1pm.

Tony Manfredi, the Mystic Fire Chief, had mentioned to Chamber President, Bruce Flax, last year, how he wanted to do more community centric events and the first one on his agenda was the Halloween parade. Following last year’s success, we are doing it again this year with a Trunk-Or-Treat and kids activities to take place at the Mystic Fire Station at the conclusion of the parade.

The parade will follow the traditional route it has always taken beginning on Water Street, taking a right onto route one and going over the bridge, turning right onto Cottrell Street, passing by Mystic River Park, then a left onto Washington Street, and finally turning back onto Route one into the fire station.

The parade gathers at one o’clock on Water Street and will hit the road at 1:05pm. Following the parade there will be plenty of activities at the fire station including snacks and a trunk-or-treat behind the Fire Station.

Stonington High School and Fitch High School are sending several athletes over and they will offer themselves up to be mummified with toilet paper, by the kids. The Stonington Bear mascot and Fitch Falcon will be there for kids to take pictures. All of the activities will take place inside the fire department’s open bays where there is plenty of space for everybody.

This is truly a community event with the Mystic Fire Department, the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Stonington Police, Groton Town Police, Stonington High School and Fitch High School all pitching in.

Bruce Flax, president of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce said, “The chamber continues to be focused on community and we are proud to partner with Chief Manfredi, the local police departments and high schools to continue this parade tradition.”

Stonington High School students who are involved are also looking to the community to help with their UNICEF drive and will be collecting (for UNICEF) at the firehouse. In addition, local children’s author Tish Rabbe will be signing her book “Mystic By the Sea is the Best Place to Be” which was created as part of the 100th Anniversary of the Mystic Bascule Bridge with the Chamber. Copies of the book will be available for sale for $8.99.
