Mystic Memorial Day Parade Canceled Due To Paperwork Error: Report

MYSTIC, CT — This year's Mystic Memorial Day Parade, a decades-old event, has been canceled.

The Mystic VFW posted the following on its Facebook page: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Mystic Memorial Day Parade has been canceled. Instead, we will be holding a Chicken BBQ with some surprises yet to be finalized. Mark this Memorial Day as one to spend at the post. More details to follow but plan on joining us on this sacred day when we give thanks to all the Vets that made the ultimate sacrifice so we are free to do what we do."

The group missed the 90-day deadline to file event paperwork with the state, according to WTNH News-8. Commander-Elect Craig Floyd told the station that they "(made) a human mistake, and we’re sorry, and I take full responsibility for that."

The group may hold a parade in September.
