Mystic Paving Project Kicks Off
Cottrell Street is the first street affected, starting at 7 a.m. on Oct. 21.

The town will begin paving the downtown Mystic streets that were milled over the summer today, Monday, Oct. 21.
According to a release from Stonington Director of Public Works Joe Bragaw, crews will begin paving Cottrell Street at 7 a.m. Monday, followed by Jackson Avenue later in the day. Holmes Street will be paved at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
After Holmes Street, crews will proceed with the other roads as they get to them. They will work Monday through Wednesday, then return the following week for about two days until they are finished.
The dates, according to Bragaw, are subject to change based on weather and contractor availability.
"By paving Cottrell and Holmes Streets first thing on Monday and Tuesday mornings respectively, we are trying our best to minimize impacts to the downtown businesses," Bragaw said. "During paving operations, there will be no on-street parking. Traffic should be able to get through during the paving work; however drivers should expect some delays."
The paving work on Route 27 is being performed by a state Department of Transportation contractor and is separate from the town’s paving.
