No Charges Against Off-Duty Officer In Pawcatuck Case
A Westerly police officer who fired his weapon during a Memorial Day incident was under deadly threat at the time, according to a report.

STONINGTON, CT - Prosecutors will not press charges against a Westerly police officer who fired a shot at two larceny suspects in Pawcatuck over Memorial Day weekend, according to The Day. The officer, Lt. Steve Johnson, was off duty at the time.
New London State's Attorney Michael Regan said in a letter to Stonington police that the investigation concluded that Johnson reasonably believed he was under a deadly threat. The larceny suspects were driving a motor vehicle toward Johnson, and he was about to be struck when he fired his weapon into the vehicle.
