Not Guilty Verdict For Woman, 72, In Stonington DUI Case
Sam C. Corcoran, 72, was found not guilty by a jury of drunk driving on Halloween 2017 after a night out at the German Club in Mystic.
STONINGTON, CT—Police pulled over Sam C. Corcoran after midnight on Halloween 2017 and gave her a field sobriety test, which police said she failed. But before she could take a Breathalyzer test at the station in Pawcatuck, the 72-year-old woman suffered some kind of medical episode and was taken to the Westerly Hospital.
On Wednesday, Corcoran a Norwich Superior Court jury of six found her not guilty of driving under the influence, The Day reported.
Corcoran, who lives in Portsmouth, R.I., has a 2011 conviction for DUI, also from Stonington. She received a suspended six-month jail sentence at the time and was given probation, which she violated in 2013, judicial records show.
