Obituary: John T. Hardy, 64, Of Mystic

John was famous for his Grandpa breakfasts and delicious steaks, and was also an accomplished musician.

John Thomas Hardy, 64, of Mystic, CT, husband to Linda D. (Rusch) Hardy, died unexpectedly, December 27, 2018 at his home.

Born in Ipswich, MA he was the son to the late Joseph and Pauline Hardy and lived in Mystic for most of his life.

John was retired from Pfizer as Foreman in the Power House after 29 years of faithful service. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran honorably discharged in 1980 after serving eight years.

He loved riding his Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycles, woodworking and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. John was passionate when it came to barbecuing and was famous for his Grandpa breakfasts and delicious steaks. He was also an accomplished drummer and musician and had an outstanding and powerful singing voice.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his three children, Adam Hardy of West Palm Beach, FL., John Hardy and his wife, Jennifer, of Stonington and Stephanie Olmstead and her husband, T.J., of Stonington; his beloved grandchildren, Cheyanne Hardy, Grace and Emma Hardy and Sam and Georgia Olmstead and a brother, Tommy Hinton, of Hampton, NH. He was predeceased by a brother and sister, Philip and Louise Hardy and his beloved pet beagle, Jake Maxwell.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mystic Funeral Home, located on Route 1 in Mystic. Funeral services and burial will be private.
