Obituary: Richard Ray Jordan, 78, Of Mystic

A talented singer, Dick performed regularly in recent years with "PB&J" at the Steak Loft in Mystic.

MYSTIC, CT - Richard “Dick” Jordan, 78, of Ridgewood Drive, Mystic, died Monday at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born September 25, 1939, in Bar Harbor, ME, the son of Ray and Evelyn (Kittredge) Jordan.

Dick earned a BA from Farmington State Teachers College (University of Maine). He married the love of his life, Joan Ramm, of Methuen, MA, in 1969, and they made their home in Mystic.

Dick was well known in the area for his 25 years as the Assistant Director of the Town of Groton Parks and Recreation Department.

In addition to his wife Joanny, Dick is survived by his daughter Julie Jordan of Virginia Beach, VA; his son John Jordan, of Mystic; his cherished grandchildren Natalie, Joey, and Quentin; brother Paul Jordan of Burlington, VT; sister The Reverend Joan Jordan Grant, of Seal Cove, ME, and close family friend, Nancy Kluepfel, of Gales Ferry.

Dick was a long-time member of the Groton Congregational Church. A talented singer, he was very active in community theater, here and in Maine, where he directed and performed in many musical productions.

In recent years he performed regularly with “PB&J” at the Steak Loft in Mystic; and was a volunteer at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital where he entertained patients with song.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM on, Saturday, November 18th at the Groton Congregational Church, 162 Monument St., Groton, CT 06340. Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton is assisting with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Alcyon Center, PO Box 40, Seal Cove, ME 04674 (www.alcyoncenter.org), or to Groton Congregational Church, 162 Monument St., Groton, CT 06340.
