Obituary: Verna T. Pray, 75, Of Pawcatuck

She was a graduate of the Halifax School of Nursing located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and was a nurse for many years.

Verna (Thomson) Pray, 75, of Pawcatuck, CT, wife of William A. Pray, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018. Born in Bible Hill, a village in Nova Scotia, Canada she was the daughter to the late Harold and Eleanor Thomson and lived in Pawcatuck for many years.

She was a graduate of the Halifax School of Nursing located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and was a nurse for many years at the Westerly Hospital, the former Norwich State Hospital and CT Valley in Middletown up until her retirement in 2002.

Verna was a member of the CT State Employees Association, enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Pequot Golf Club in Stonington.

Besides her husband Bill , she leaves two brothers, John Thomson (Lynn)of AB, Canada and Keith Thomson (Patricia) of New Brunswick, Canada; sister, Audrey Thiesen (Jerry) of Truro, Nova Scotia; nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, James Pray (Irene) of Stonington.

A visiting hour will be held on Thursday, March 15 at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. Her burial will be held privately.
