Old Mystic Fire Department Makes a Difference for MDA

Mystic, CT August 5, 2013 - The members of the Old Mystic Fire Department truly are everyday heroes; volunteering their time and energy to not only protect the community but to raise money and awareness for a worthwhile cause. On Saturday July 27, 2013 and Sunday July 28, 2013, the Old Mystic Volunteer Fire Dept. came together and joined in the fight to end neuromuscular disease by Filling-the-Boot for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) at both the Mystic Aquarium and Mcquades Supermarket. They raised over $2,600. These funds will benefit local Connecticut individuals and families who are affected by neuromuscular disease and sends three children to the MDA summer camp in Hebron, CT.   Any contribution can help make a difference in someones life.

MDA is a nonprofit health agency that is dedicated to curing Muscular Dystrophy, including ALS and other related diseases by funding worldwide research. MDA also provides comprehensive health care and support service, and advocacy and education to individuals and families in  Connecticut.  The majority of contributions to MDA come from individual donors.
