OSCA Talk: Understanding Alzheimer's

The Mystic & Noank Library and Our Shoreline Community Association (OSCA) present a talk on Understanding Alzheimer’s: Do’s and Don’ts for Caregivers on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Robert E. P. Elmer, III, Master Trainer in Alzheimer’s Care, will talk about the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s and how to understand the disease as well as the needs and care of a growing number of patients and caregivers.
After a very successful career in broadcast management and marketing, Elmer entered the Senior Care industry in 1998 as a State Certified Administrator for one of the premier assisted living communities in the country. After construction of their first dedicated community for those with Alzheimer’s dementia, Elmer became a Master Trainer in Alzheimer’s care. An accomplished senior care and Alzheimer’s care specialist, Elmer recently founded Care for Caregivers, LLC, a training and consulting group for Alzheimer’s caregivers.
OSCA is a naturally occurring retirement community located along the shoreline of Southeastern Connecticut, serving seniors in the neighborhoods of Noank, Groton Long Point, Mumford Cove and Mystic (both Groton and Stonington sides). Their mission is to enhance the independent lives of seniors by providing the support and security of a retirement community in their own homes. For more information, call (860) 536-7721 or email info@mysticnoanklibrary.org.  The event is free and open to the public.
