Over 170 Arrested On DWI Charges In 2017: Stonington Police
Stonington police said officers made over 170 DWI arrests in 2017.

STONINGTON, CT — Stonington police said over 170 people were arrested on charges of driving under the influence in 2017, the New London Day reported. That number is 13 more than the department made in 2016, according to police.
Police said the department typically makes more DWI arrests than any other area departments, according to the New London Day. Officers have already arrested three people on DWI charges in the first three days of the new year, police said.
Though the number of arrests have been increasing over the last few years, the department's record year was in 2005 when 227 drivers were charged with driving under the influence, according to the New London Day.
