Police Crackdown On Street Racing In North Stonington

State and local police said they are taking action against large meet-ups of street racers at commuter lots in North Stonington.

MONTVILLE, CT — State Police Troop E said they are working with North Stonington police to combat illegal street racing and destructive meet-ups at DOT commuter lots.

Police said in a Facebook post that they have received "numerous complaints regarding reckless behavior at the commuter lots," including littering, noise complaints, underage drinking, destruction of property, and reckless driving.

The vents often host about 75 vehicles and more than 100 people, police said.

Troopers issued two arrest warrants, six misdemeanor summonses, and five infractions. Four vehicles were also towed.
