Police Radio System Upgrade Approved By Stonington
Stonington officials have approved a $1.3 million upgrade of the police department's radio system.

STONINGTON, CT — Stonington officials have approved a $1.3 million plan to upgrade the police department's radio system, the New London Day reported. The plan was approved Wednesday by the Board of Finance.
According to the Day, a potential upgrade has been discussed for over eight years. Police officials said the department's current system is over 18 years old.
The project will replace the department's outmoded equipment, which breaks often and consists of parts that are difficult to replace, according to the Day. The new system will also allow officers to talk directly both to officers from other departments and to state police and various other state agencies.
