Popular Mystic Bakery Has Plans For Expansion: Report

A local bakery intends to add outdoor seating at its downtown location.

MYSTIC, CT — Sift Bake Shop is planning to expand with a second-floor dining patio, among other improvements, according to The Day of New London.

The Town of Groton Planning and Zoning Commission approved the change recently.

The plan is to add between 22 and 24 outdoor seats with a 448-square-foot patio, which will be located over the existing patio.

Sift Bake Shop at 5 Water St. specializes in "scratch-made signature desserts, artisanal breads, pastries, macarons, and more. All items are all made in-house daily celebrating the freshest ingredients and modern techniques, with a nod to the traditional foundations of classic pastry."

The bakery also opened other locations at Mohegan Sun, Watch Hill, and Niantic.

Chef Adam Young has earned numerous accolades over the years, including being a finalist in Food Network's 2017 Spring Baking Competition, winning Food Network's 2018 Best Baker in America award, and being featured multiple times at the James Beard house.
