Probate Judge Swears In Returning Stonington Board Of Selectmen [VIDEO]

And after a quick break for cake it was back to work. There was a big agenda at Wednesday night’s meeting including commendations, Police Commission interviews and meeting schedules.
- The Board of Selectmen presented commendations to Public Works employees Joseph Balestracci and Daniel Oliverio who completed the seven workshops of the Connecticut Road Masters program.
- Stephen Bickford and Patrick Moukawsher answered questions ranging from the theoretical to the basic from the board as part of an interview process. The two men are interviewing for an appointment to the police commission. The board did not vote on whom to appoint.
- The Board of Selectmen made a number of other appointments and reappointments including appointing Francis Hoffman, currently an alternate on the Planning and Zoning Commission, to a full member of the commission.
- The board voted to approve metal guide rails along River Road in Pawcatuck from Bigelow Street to just past Mystic Avenue. The metal guide rails will replace the current rotting wooden posts, but several residents spoke in opposition to the rails citing safety concerns for bike riders and walkers. The Chief of Police and Director of Public Works told the board about concerns of vehicles crashing into the river, which date back more than a decade. The board thanked the residents for coming to the meeting, but ultimately decided to approve the rails.
- Don’t miss any of the 2012 Board of Selectmen meetings. The board set the schedule at Wednesday’s meeting. They will meet at 7 p.m., at the on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Special Meetings will be scheduled as needed.
