Red-Tailed Hawk Enters New Phase of Rehab

This adult Red-tail hawk came to us a few months ago with an injured wing. After rehabbing at DPNC it needs space to work out its muscles so we worked with Born to Be Wild Nature Center in Bradford, R.I., who will allow us to keep the hawk in their larger flight cage.

Hopefully in a few days we will have a better idea as to how long he will need to be strong enough for release. When we put him in the flight cage today he tried to go straight up to a high perch but didn’t make it, but eventually made it up to the swing perch and did well. Fingers crossed, so far so good!
