Relay for Life of Greater Westerly Kicks Off 20th Anniversary Season at 84 Tavern On Canal

The American Cancer Society’s Greater Westerly’s Relay for Life will kick off its 20th year of raising awareness to finish the fight cancer at 84 Tavern on Canal on February 22 from 6-8 pm. This event is free and open to the public! There is no registration required.

The annual Kick Off will host food and entertainment for the entire family to celebrate the start of the 20th anniversary with door prizes and complimentary refreshments from 84 Tavern on Canal. A cash bar will also be open.

The Kick Off is your one stop shop to sign up a team, a survivor or caregiver, team fundraisers, choose a campsite and learn more about how your team can participate in the Road to the Relay event. This year’s Greater Westerly Relay for Life will take place Friday, June 23 - Saturday, June 24 at the Westerly High School Quad from 6pm-8am.

The Greater Westerly Relay for Life is the oldest relay event in the state of Rhode Island. If you have any memories you would like to share from the last 19 years, bring photos and memorabilia to the Kick Off or email images to westerlyrelaypr@gmail.com.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest and most impactful fundraising event to end cancer. Over the last 19 years, thousands of local residents have participated in the Westerly Relay raising over $3 million dollars towards cancer research and supporting a variety of programs run by the American Cancer Society. Going back to our Roots in our 19th year was a great success! The Greater Westerly Relay for Life raised $103,653 all thanks to the amazing volunteers and participants.
