Restaurant, Cocktail Bar Charts Opening In Stonington
A new restaurant with a sister establishment in Westerly is planning to open this holiday season at the Velvet Mill in Stonington.
STONINGTON, CT — A cocktail bar and restaurant is coming to the Velvet Mill in Stonington. Dock 9 is under development and says it's coming soon to the Bayview Avenue shopping center.
"Dock 9 will put an Industrial Nautical twist on its sister’s establishment, the loved Perks & Corks Martini Bar in Westerly," Dock 9 wrote on its Instagram page. "We are shooting for the holiday season for opening, and look forward to seeing you all there."
The opening day for the establishment will be released soon, according to a Nov. 3 Facebook post from Dock 9.

Velvet Mill was originally built in 1888. The American Velvet Company moved out of state in 1996.
Currently, the mill "continues to develop its adapted reuse with the many artists, craftspeople and entrepreneurs," according to its website.

Other businesses at Velvet Mill include Beer'd Brewing Company, Dave's Bicycles, Fun and Funky Vintage, and Rum Tropic Distillery.
