Rob and Heidi Simmons Running For School Board
Rob Simmons isn't running to be a selectman. Instead, he's a candidate for the school board and wife, educator Heidi Simmons, is running too
STONINGTON, CT—First Selectman Rob Simmons won't be seeking another term on the town board but is seeking a seat on the Board of Education, The Day reported. Simmons was endorsed by the Republican Town Committee Thursday. And, given there were no other Republican candidates, it was reported he put his wife Heidi's name forward and she was then endorsed by the Committee. Heidi Simmons is a literary coach at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School in New London. She has a Ph.D in elementary education.
The Stonington Republican Town Committee also endorsed Emma Burnside for school board and Austin Clark as candidate for Board of Finance.
Simmons told The Day he and his wife have considered running for the a seat on the Board of Ed for some time.
